Dendrobium Buttercup is an orchid hybrid originated by Armstrong/Brown in 1915. It is a cross of Den. It is considered a 'primary hybrid' because it is a cross between two species. Endemic to northeastern Queesland, Australia in cool cloud forests on upper tree branches or trunks of trees at altitudes of 800 to 1300 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a slender, creeping row of pseudobulb-like stems carrying 20 or so, thin, grass-like leaves. They bloom with 2 to 10, fragrant, waxy, flowers that do not open fully on a short, racemose inflorescence that arises from the nodes at the upper end of the slender canes, either old or new occuring in winter till spring.

As the watering and fertilizing is lessened after blooming but not letting the plant to fully dry out, full watering and feeding should be resumed with active growth in the spring. They do best mounted to accomodate the rambling growth habit and they appreciate high humidity year round.
